Tom McPhail has been appointed director of public affairs at the lang cat.

Joining the independent platform, pensions and investment consultancy on 2 September, McPhail will lead on strategically important reports and support clients on public policy, pensions and PR. He returns to the pensions industry after less than a year with electric bike company Pure Electric, where his role as director of public affairs concluded in February. He previously spent 20 years with Hargreaves Lansdown, most recently as head of policy and lead spokesperson on pension issues, leaving the firm early last year.
