MP Esther McVey writes to advice firm supporting client claiming £2m compensation

Esther McVey MP, former secretary of state for work and pensions, has written to Greystone Financial Services requesting it compensates a former client who lost about £2m while investing with the firm.

In November 2020, Professional Adviser reported that Mr B, as referred to by the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS), complained about the advice given by Greystone.  Mr B's adviser was Neil Williams-Denton, who was convicted at Southwark Crown Court of two counts of conspiracy to cheat the public revenue, HM Revenue & Customs, and given a six year prison sentence in 2015. In her letter, sent on 20 April, McVey, said that, given Denton was the adviser, she thought Greystone would have been "keen to resolve the situation".
