'Sustainable funds are dependable dividend payers when things get tough' - Baillie Gifford's Ross

Toby Ross, co-head of the global income growth team at Baillie Gifford, has said investors are more likely to receive dividend payments from sustainable funds because they are better insulated from economic shocks.

Speaking at Professional Adviser's ESG Masterclass event at the end of last month he said focusing on sustainable growth is right for long-term investors as they are more likely to pay dividends during economic downturns. He said: "Our focus on sustainable growth not only leads us towards companies that behave responsibly in times of stress, but also towards companies that are more likely to be dependable dividend payers when things get more difficult.
