FCA to compensate banned TailorMade CEO over court costs

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is to pay thousands of pounds to banned and fined former TailorMade CEO Alistair Burns for money he spent in litigation fees.

Burns had alleged the regulator caused a delay to proceedings in his case and, as such, argued he should be compensated for the additional costs incurred. A transcript of the Upper Tribunal decision, dated 26 January, shows Judge Timothy Herrington concluded there were times during the case when the FCA did not act in a way "expected of it". The judge found the FCA had failed to establish early enough at what point the statute of limitations concerning the advice Burns gave started to run.
