PFS taken to task for 'multi-tie' approach to graduation gifts

Free ties left out at ceremony

Free ties handed out at a Personal Finance Society (PFS) graduation ceremony this week have sparked off a gender diversity argument between an IFA and the professional body.

The free neckwear was given out at an event to celebrate PFS members who had qualified with Advanced Diploma qualifications and higher. Equanimity IFA managing director Helen Howcroft took to Twitter to express her disbelief the PFS would, in her view, exclude women by handing out the ties. After the event she tweeted a photo of the ties, adding: "Diversity at its best. Only 8% of IFAs are female yet it's no surprise when our professional body give a tie to all Chartered financial planners. Stop paying us lip service."
