FCA should outlaw all cold-calls to better protect consumers, campaign group says

The Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) latest consultation provides an opportunity for the watchdog to ban pensions cold-calls from regulated providers entirely, the fair telecoms campaign has said.

Fair telecoms campaigner David Hickson said yesterday's FCA consultation - which asked how it, the government and firms can better protect consumers -  provided an opportunity to further ban cold-calls from regulated providers. He said the fair telecoms campaign would be calling for all regulated cold-calling to be banned in critical areas where it does harm. "The point in their consultation they make is how important it is that consumers make considered decisions," he said. "The whole point of a telephone call is you raise the possibility to get someone's reaction, and close the deal...
