The government has pledged £2bn extra for social care and confirmed a Green Paper on social care funding will be published later on this year.

The budget revealed an additional £2bn funding would be made available to social care in England over the next three years, with £1bn made available in 2017/18 alone.  Chancellor Phillip Hammond said this would be in addition to £7bn the government was planning to put into the social care system over the next three years and that options for future funding "do not include, and never have included, a death tax".
