FundCalibre launches Elite ratings for investment trusts

FundCalibre has expanded its fund research to include investment companies, awarding an initial 11 trusts its Elite rating.

The company expanded its coverage after identifying a strong client interest in investment companies, and said it expects more trusts to gain the Elite mark in the coming months. To gain an Elite rating, FundCalibre first identifies funds with a 60% chance of delivering outperformance on the basis of their manager's skill. Its research team will then interview the manager face-to-face to identify their investment philosophy and check it is consistent with their portfolio.  After finally being subjected to peer group review, around 5%-10% of all managers are awarded the rating.
