HSBC Wealth chief replaces Chris Macdonald as CEO of Brooks Macdonald

Chris Macdonald is stepping down from his role as chief executive at the wealth management firm he gave his name to, Brooks Macdonald, as the group reveals it has poached Caroline Connellan from HSBC's UK wealth business to become group CEO next year.

Subject to regulatory approvals, Macdonald will become deputy chairman of the group with effect from April 2017 when Connellan joins as CEO. He will continue to serve as an adviser to the firm and support continued development and growth, with the view to taking on the role of chairman in the future. Connellan was head of UK premier and wealth at HSBC, where she led the transformation of the UK wealth business, said Brooks Macdonald.
