Consumer Panel raises doubt over FCA investor protection

The effectiveness of the Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) consumer protection agenda has been called into question after it was suggested firms were looking for ways around the rules.

At a grilling on 28 October, Treasury select committee chairman Andrew Tyrie asked the chair of the consumer panel chair whether she thought the quality of the regulator's consumer protection was now better than five years ago. Would it prevent further "consumer rip-off?" he asked.
