Rory Percival: Paraplanning will not be regulated

Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) technical specialist Rory Percival has praised paraplanners for seeking to build a profession, but said the role should - and would - not be regulated.

Percival said a true profession "doesn't look to the regulator on how to improve", adding "paraplanning is demonstrating quite a good product in that area [and] I applaud you for doing that", according to Financial Planner Online. Percival was speaking at the third annual Paraplanners Powwow, which took place in Northamptonshire on 10 September. Percival suggested the event demonstrated paraplanners' desire for self improvement, which he said was a key indicator of professionalism.
