Director at Lloyds Banking Group Robert Fletcher has been elected as the Chartered Insurance Institute's (CII) new president.

Fletcher, who is in charge of secured lending operations at the bank, was elected by members of the organisation at its annual general meeting in London on 22 July. The former Aviva employee succeeded Brokerbility chairman Ashwin Mistry in the role. His deputy will be chartered insurance broker and Thomas Carroll Group chairman John Moore. The CII is a professional body for insurance and financial services and is the parent of adviser body the Personal Finance Society, awarding advisers the Chartered status.
