Adviser rep to help shape troubled MAS' future

Association of Professional Financial Advisers (APFA) director general Chris Hannant and former Association of British Insurers (ABI) boss Otto Thoresen have been named on a panel tasked with helping shape the future of the Money Advice Service (MAS).

The independent panel will scrutinise the way MAS implements changes a critical government-backed report suggested the service needed to make to continue to be viable. Hannant will work alongside former ABI director general Otto Thoresen, Moneysavingexpert founder Martin Lewis and others to help shape the future of the service, which is part funded by a levy on financial advisers. The Treasury called for a review of MAS after a group of MPs concluded it was "not fit for purpose".
