Fees cut for registering a power of attorney

The cost of registering a lasting power of attorney (LPA) has been reduced from £130 to £110, the government has announced.

The new fees will come into force from 1 October 2013 and will apply for registering both LPAs and the older enduring powers of attorney (EPA). LPAs and EPAs are legal documents which allow the applicant to appoint someone they know and trust to make decisions about their health and welfare or financial affairs if they were to lose capacity in the future.
