Vincent Tchenguiz files £200m damages case against SFO

The Serious Fraud Office is facing a £200m lawsuit and accusations of misfeasance in public office in a record damages claim filed by entrepreneur Vincent Tchenguiz.

In legal papers filed at the High Court Tchenguiz claimed damages for a series of alleged injustices relating to his arrest and subsequent investigation in connection to the collapse of Icelandic bank Kaupthing, the Telegraph reports. The claims include trespass, false imprisonment, misfeasance in public office and malicious prosecution. Tchenguiz said: "These substantial claims reflect the significant business losses arising directly from the unlawful actions of the SFO under the leadership of the former director."
