Axa accuses former IFP president Shalton of client solicitation

Life company Axa has accused financial planner and former Institute of Financial Planning (IFP) president Marlene Shalton of client solicitation.

The insurer, which owns Bluefin Personal Consulting, alleges Shalton urged clients to move with her to Guardian Wealth Management, which she joined in September after resigning from Bluefin in May. Axa is understood to have instructed lawyers to pursue its claim. Both Axa and Shalton declined to comment. Certified financial planner Shalton joined Thinc (now Bluefin) in 2007 after selling her practice, Chambers Morgan James, to the company. She later joined Guardian as managing director of financial planning practice.
