FSA looks abroad for Cole replacement

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) is assessing the credentials of candidates from across three continents in its search for a new enforcement head to replace Margaret Cole.

According to a report in the Financial Times, the FSA has appointed headhunting firm Sainty Hird to help with its search. Potential candidates include external regulators from North America and Asia, bank executives and lawyers, as well as the FSA's acting enforcement director, Tracey McDermott, the FT said. Cole (pictured) announced her departure in February and is to join the UK arm of PricewaterhouseCoopers as general counsel in the summer.
