A pensioner has been charged with faking his death and then pretending to be his wife in order to claim on his life insurance policy.
Anthony McEarlean, 66, stands accused of faking his death in a road accident in Honduras in 2009, Kent Online reports. McEarlean then allegedly posed as his wife to try to claim £520,000 from his life insurance policy. He will face two further charges of fraudulent claims against his late father-in-law's pension between March 2007 and April 2011. McEarlean has been remanded in custody and is set to appear before Canterbury Magistrates' Court later this week.
