Sants gets top job at new EU-wide regulator

FSA chief executive Hector Sants has won a seat on the management board of the new European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA), with two more senior FSA staff taking key roles at other EU watchdogs.

Alexander Justham, the FSA's director of markets, has taken up a position on the European Securities and Markets Authority (Esma) in Paris, according to the Financial Times. FSA banking sector director Thomas Huertas has been tipped for a position on the London-based European Banking Authority's (EBA) management board, and possibly acting chairman until the permanent chair arrives. The watchdogs are part of an overhaul of Europe’s system for supervising banks and financial services groups and will have a key role in shaping rules for the sector.
