The government will issue a call for evidence on early access to pension funds later this month, Mark Hoban has announced.
Speaking at the Pensions Policy Institute (PPI) yesterday, the financial secretary to the Treasury said he was keeping a "very open mind" on the issue. The coalition pledged it would explore allowing early access to pensions in a bid to boost the appeal of the savings plans in May. Hoban said his main priority is to ensure any policy changes are "focussed on encouraging more people to save more towards their retirement, and we need to remain aware of the risks to people's retirement income of increased flexibility".
