Pru boosted by powerful M&G and with-profits sales

Strong inflows into Prudential's asset management arm M&G and its with-profits products helped UK sales rise 3% to £548m for the first nine months of the year compared to the same period in 2009.

In the UK, Prudential continues its focus on balancing writing new business with sustainable cash generation and capital preservation. This led to new business profit growing 14% year to date to £192m (2009: £169m). Total sales(APE) were also up during Q3 this year by 5% to £166m from £158m during the same period in 2009. Strong demand for with-profits annuities helped boost figures for the first nine months of the year.
