Barclays releases iPath ETN with exposure to European volatility

Barclays has launched an exchange-traded note (ETN) designed to provide exposure to medium-term European volatility.

The iPath VStoxx Mid-Term Futures ETN is linked to the performance of the underlying Eurostoxx 50 Volatility Mid-Term Futures index, which tracks the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh month futures of the VStoxx. "In the aftermath of the global meltdown across asset classes in 2008, investors were looking for new ways to diversify their portfolios," says Natasha Jhunjhunwala, equity and funds structured markets at Barclays Capital.
