Jon Maguire, cru Investment Management director, won just 307 votes for the English Democrats in his Wiltshire constituency last night, and cheekily declared "I nearly won it".
Maguire, at the centre of a blame game following the suspension last year of the £400m Arch cru fund range which left investors' cash frozen, bagged just 0.6% of the 52,320 votes cast in Chippenham The Liberal Democrat candidate Duncan Hames won the seat with almost 24,000 votes, followed by Tory Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones with 21,500.
