RDR objectives revisited

It was June 2007, all of 33 months ago, when the FSA published its first Review of Retail Distribution.

It stated, from the outset, it wanted "a market which allows more consumers to have their needs and wants addressed". This is the objective, above all others, a number of advisers say will not be achieved under the regulator's current proposals. A significant number of RDR critics, AIFA director general Chris Cummings among them, argue the Review is in danger of reducing consumer access to advice.
