RDR platform paper: Unbundled option better for clients

An unbundled charging structure will improve clarity for customers according to the FSA's RDR, published today.

In its platform discussion paper, the regulator said it "prefers the option" of ending payments from product providers to platforms, but has said this is not a final view. The issue of platforms keeping rebates from providers as income has come into the spotlight recently, with Aviva's head of wrap Nick Burton urging the regulator to ban the practice.
