Madoff hospitalised in prison dispute

Fraudster Bernie Madoff was hospitalised after an attack by a fellow inmate, according to reports.

The 71-year old, who is serving a 150-year jail sentence for masterminding a multi-billion dollar scam, suffered a broken nose, fractured ribs and cuts to his head and face. The attacked, witnessed by fellow inmates, was reportedly over money owed by Madoff to the attacker. However, officials at his North Caroline prison have denied Madoff was subject to violence. The prison says he did visit a hospital in December last year for hypertension and dizziness.
