Cler Med boss steps down in Lloyds reshuffle

Clerical Medical's managing director, John van Der Wielen, is to step down as part of a high-level reshuffle at Lloyds Banking Group.

Lloyds is currently in the process of streamlining its UK operations following its acquisition of HBOS, and has shed thousands of jobs. Andy Briggs, currently managing director of Scottish Widows, will take over the combined general insurance operations of Lloyds and HBOS. Phil Loney, former head of general insurance, will take control of Lloyds combined life, pensions and investment business. This includes Clerical Medical and Scottish Widows.
