Ascentric owner considers Fundsdirect sale

IFDL, the company behind the Ascentric wrap, is reviewing its Fundsdirect business with a view to a possible sale.

The re-think is part of a fundamental change in strategy that puts the adviser and the Ascentric wrap centre stage. Speaking to IFA Online, Ascentric managing director Hugo Thorman says the Fundsdirect and Ascentric businesses are not entirely compatible. "Although no one has explicitly said it, there is a bit of a conflict between having a direct platform and a B2B proposition. "There is always a suspicion in the minds of the adviser that after doing all of the hard work, clients might come directly. So we are reviewing our approach."
