Sesame talks up platforms but Portavista future unclear

Sesame has stressed it sees platforms as "very important" to the future of retail distribution as the final details on a takeover of support services provider Bankhall are hammered out.

However, sales and marketing director Steve Young says the network giant is no clearer on the future of Bankhall's Portavista platform, or a potential launch of its own proposition. The IFA network was this week assured it remains a part of Friends Provident's plans for the UK market after the insurer joined Clive Cowdery's consolidation vehicle Resolution. Despite posting a £1m underlying loss in the first half of 2009, Friends says it is confident Sesame will be profitable by the end of the year.
