EMPLOYERS and trustees of smaller defined contribution schemes could face legal action from December 1 under new legislation.
Following changes stemming from Europe regarding exemptions on pensions, companies have been warned they may struggle to cope with age discrimination legislation after a proposed compliance window of three months was rejected. AEGON Scottish Equitable said it was now concerned that smaller defined contribution schemes in particular may find it hard to understand and implement the final regulations made by the Department of Work and Pensions in time, after the suggested compliance window was deemed impossible to run by the DWP.
