Thoresen calls on Government to promote advice

Aegon UK chief executive Otto Thoresen has called on the Government to act urgently in making professional financial advice part of its policy response to the current economic crisis.

Thoresen asserted that market uncertainty has left people confused and lacking in confidence in the financial industry. He believes that action taken now would be a natural complement to Money Guidance, an initiative he recommended as part of his review for the Treasury published in March. He urged policymakers to develop the guidance and assistance people need to let them take on their increasing financial responsibilities with confidence.
