Number of UK investors growing

MORE UK investors are putting their money into the stock market, with 90pc of active investors in the UK now owning shares, according to research from broker, TD Waterhouse.

However, investor confidence is down, with only a third of UK investors more confident now than they were at the same time in 2006. Angus Rigby, CEO of TD Waterhouse, said: "This year's survey has produced some fascinating results and the overall message is clear; more UK investors than ever before are trading in stocks and shares, even if confidence has been slightly dented by recent market jitters."
