FTSE climbs to four-year high

In the UK stocks rose, sending the benchmark FTSE 100 Index to a four-year high.

Anglo American paced gains by mining shares after copper prices reached a record in New York. The benchmark closed up 47.50 points, or 0.87%, to close at 5494.80 its highest point since August 2001. Anglo American, the world's second-biggest mining company, added 62p, or 4.2p%, to 1704.00p. Antofagasta, the owner of three copper mines in Chile, rose 50p, or 3.5%, to 1580p. Rio Tinto Group, the world's third-largest mining company, advanced 71p, or 3.1%, to 2,335p. O2, Britain's biggest mobile-phone operator by customers, climbed 1.6% to a record 158p.
