Breaks for hospitalised pensioners - Budget

The Government has announced it will permanently dissolve charges for hospitalised pensioners.

The Chancellor, Gordon Brown first announced in his 2003 Budget speech that all hospitalised pensioners would continue to receive their state pension entitlement for stays of up to 52 weeks. Delivering his Budget Speech yesterday, he further added that those elderly patients in hospital from next month, will continue to receive a full state pension as well as a full entitlement to Incapacity Benefit, Severe Disablement Allowance and Income Support for the entire time of their stay from April 2006.
