Aifa renews calls for equity release qualifications

The Association of Independent Financial Advisers (Aifa) has called for specific professional qualifications to become the standard for those wishing to advise in the market.

Aifa has promised to increase awareness of education and training in the equity release market and says it will be speaking with other professional bodies in order to identify and promote relevant training programmes for advisers. The Association previoiusly called for professional qualifications for advisers in the equity release market at the start of regulation by the Financial Services Authority (FSA), says Tracey Mullins, a spokeswoman for Aifa.
