House price growth falls 1% in September

Annualised house price growth fell by 1% between August and September, according to Assetz House Price Watch.

Assetz latest figures, an aggregate of five major house prices indices, also show a fall in actual house prices during September. The average annualised rate of growth was 9.9% in September, falling below double-digits for the first time since late 2006, compared with 10.9% in August. Growth is still 1.6% higher than the 8.3% registered in September last year. However, Assetz says a major fall in growth reported by Rightmove, which normally estimates a much higher level of growth than other indices, has made a major contribution to September’s data.
