It's here, it's there, it's everywhere and there is no escaping the reams of copy on the US presidential, congressional and senatorial elections, with all the hype about a brand new tomorrow.

CLOSER TO HOME, it is a sad day for “Howard”, HBOS’ all-singing, all-dancing advertisement, who is set to be axed north of the border, The Scotsman writes. Apparently, Scottish customers of Bank of Scotland are not too keen on Howard, the Brummie with glasses as thick as coke bottles, and bosses are now keen to put in place a more “local” vision. ”The new "local heroes" campaign will feature 16 branch staff from across Scotland in an attempt to reconnect with the bank’s traditional customer base - many of whom have voiced concerns over the showy Halifax-inspired ads,” the paper says. ...
