EPC qualification for launch in New Year

The government is set to announce in September the details of a new qualification for those producing the energy performance certificate.

Energy inspectors are expected to co-exist alongside home inspectors but will be qualified to produce the only mandatory element of the home information pack – the energy performance certificate. A spokeswoman for the Department for Communities and Local Government says it is too soon to comment on the details of the qualification but has tried to allay the fears of those who have spent thousands of pounds on training to become home inspectors already.
