FSA confirms short selling disclosure rules

The FSA has confirmed it will continue to require disclosure of short positions on financial stocks until the end of June.

Following a short consultation, announced after the regulator decided not to extend its ban on holding short positions last week, the FSA says the proposals have received strong support. Holders of significant short positions, representing 0.25% or more of a firm's issued share capital, will be required to inform the FSA of their interest. Further disclosure will only be required if the share holding increases by 0.1% or more of a company's value.
