Sir Malcolm Rifkind, shadow work and pensions secretary, is launching a new Bill this week designed to simplify the pensions system and encourage people to save for their retirement.
Rifkind’s “Rights of Savers” Private Members Bill is due for its second reading in the Commons on Friday and aims to encourage more people to save for their old age through a Savings and Retirement Account and a Retirement Income Fund. In advance of Friday’s debate, Rifkind says: “We must encourage people to save by making it easier for them to do so.
