NU pair jailed for £600k ID deception

Two Norwich Union employees from Sheffield have been jailed for five and a half years after using customers' personal details to poach over £600,000.

Edward Dzingai and Gregory Maumbe, both failed Zimbabwean asylum seekers, used their positions at the Sheffield branch of the insurance firm to gain access to personal insurance policy details of 28 ‘gone away’ customers or clients with no known current addresses. According to the Yorkshire Post, the pair targeted these policies and managed to steal over £655,395 between September 2005 and October 2007. They attempted to pilfer a further £144,000 but failed.
