Teachers' union group the National Union of Teachers is stepping up its efforts in its protest of the Government's proposal to raise the normal pension age from 60 to 65.
The group is calling for action from other teacher organisations and joins in song with other trade bodies, Unison and TUC in calling for a ‘Pensions' Day of Action’ in April. The NUT will consult with its members as to exactly what form and shape this action will take, but could include: a one-day strike action; a day of industrial action short of strike action, unsustained; or intensified campaigning activities short of industrial action, while urging members to vote for the strongest action available, namely a one-day strike.
