FTSE gains as US interest rises fears eased

The FTSE 100 has risen 39.8 points, or 0.7%, to 5817.8 led by Capita Group after the company reported a first-half profit that exceeded analysts' estimates.

BHP Billiton and Anglo American has also advanced as copper prices gained. British Airways has climbed for a second day, following four days of losses, after US airlines reported higher earnings. Capita has climbed 35.5p, or 7.5%, to 510.25 after the UK's biggest supplier of administrative services said first-half profit was £61.3m compared with £50m in the year-earlier period. British Airways, Europe's third-largest airline, has risen 12.75p, or 3.6%, to 370.
