NU and Bright Grey speed up underwriting

Norwich Union has introduced a teleinterviewing service staffed by nurses to remove the necessity of acquiring GP reports for protection applications.

The launch follows a pilot in September 2006, which found 98% of the applicants contacted were happy to talk through their form with a nurse. Telephone nurse interviews are targeted at policy applications requiring further information, either because of responses which have triggered further questions or as a result of ambiguous answers. In the past, Norwich Union would have requested a GP report, which can take around 20 days to send and receive, whereas 60% of telephone nurse interviews are completed and processed within two days.
