Solid start to week for FTSE

In the UK the FTSE 100 Index has closed 15.60 points higher to 4864.90 points a short while ago, led by British American Tobacco.

The Tobacco firm has added 19p to 982.50p, along with International Power, up 3.50p to 189.50p. The firm signed an agreement with EnergyAustralia to form a Retail Energy Partnership last week. Scottish Power has also advanced 7.25p to 421.75p. Media stocks pace the other end of the board, including ITV, down 3p to 125.75p, Greg Dyke, former director general of BBC and Apax adviser, will delay talks of a bid until the summer when ITV will have completed the renegotiation of license costs. WPP group has also shed 12.50p to 588p, along with the Daily Mail and General Trust, down the same...
