The Government is to appoint a working group of mortgage industry experts to advise on options for improving the functioning of mortgage finance markets.
The Chancellor says the working group will be led by Sir James Crosby, deputy chairman of the FSA and former head of HBOS, and will draw on the expertise of lenders, investors and the Tripartite Authorities. Launching the working group today, Alistair Darling says: “The recent and ongoing disruption in global financial markets has raised complex issues about the functioning of the mortgage-backed securities markets.
