The majority of IFAs advise their clients to contract back in to the State Second Pension (S2P), according to the Association of Independent Financial Advisers (Aifa).
Aifa’s October IFA Census survey reveals 81% of IFAs have advised “at least some”, “most”, or “all” of their clients – 39%, 31% and 11% respectively – to contract back in to S2P. But, over half of IFAs who responded prefer to talk through the pros and cons and allow the client to make the final decision themselves. In addition, the results show IFAs are divided on their willingness to provide a review for those contracted out via a personal pension and on whether or not to advise new clients on contracting out.
