Confusion prevails over the health of the housing market

The latest research from the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) and property search website Rightmove appear to contradict each other leading to some confusion as to the state of health of the housing market.

According to the latest Rightmove House Price Index property asking prices between 13 February and 12 March 2005 have risen by £1,132 (0.6%). Rightmove says the slight increase in asking prices follows on February’s increase of 2.3%, just £1,236 below the record increases seen in July 2004. According to the website there were an additional 110,000 homeowners trying to sell their properties during the March period adding to growing levels of over-supply with housing stock levels per estate agent reaching 6% meaning estate agents have almost a third more properties on their books than co...
