The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has stated no real reform of pensions will work unless the state pension is linked to earnings.
At a government roundtable discussion hosted by John Hutton, secretary of state for work and pensions, the TUC said the Turner Report provides the basis for a new pensions settlement with two key proposals for a National Pension Savings Scheme (NPSS) and a reform of the basic state pension re-linking it to earnings.
