In the UK the FTSE 100 Index has fallen heavily this morning, down about 41 points to 4903.70 points, affected by its counterpart in the US.
Corus Group has lost 2.75p or 5% to 52.75p following concerns that a slowing global economy will cut demand for commodities. Amvescap is down 13p to 316p. The Investment management firm is still in search of a chief executive, while mining firm Xstrata, has also retreated 37p to 974p. Rolls-Royce Group meanwhile, has advanced 8.50p to 256.75p, along with GlaxoSmithKline and Shire Pharmaceuticals, up 29p to 12.53p and 12.5p to 626p respectively. In Japan the Nikkei 225 Stock Average retreated 1.7% to 11,370.69 at its close early this morning, wiping out this year’s gain, led by computer...
